Novathread Lift

What is a Novathread® Lift?

A Novathread® Lift involves the use of barbed sutures that are easily absorbed once left in the body. The doctor guides the threads through the areas that are to be “lifted” or tightened and pulls them so they are taut and the skin is evenly supported. The doctor then places knots in the ends of the threads and allows them to retract back under the surface of the skin. This type of facelift offers similar results to that of a conventional facelift, but results in little to no downtime, no scarring, no side effects, and it is much more cost effective. This type of lift is commonly referred to as a “lunchtime” lift because it can be performed in less than an hour's time.

What Type of Recovery is Needed After This Type of Procedure?

With a Novathread® Lift, there is literally no downtime. The procedure is performed in the doctor's office with a local anesthetic. There are no incisions or sutures that need to be made. The procedure produces no scars and there are no indications that a procedure was even performed. There are no side effects from the anesthetic or the procedure, aside from some mild swelling and discomfort. The sutures used in this type of procedure are also used in cardiovascular procedures and are well tolerated by the body. The only part of the procedure that is invasive is the insertion of a pre-loaded hypodermic needle that contains the sutures.

How Long Does a Novathread® Lift Last?

A Novathread® lift uses barbed sutures that are biodegradable. They are easily absorbed by the body and will remain in place for anywhere from four to six months from the time they are put in place. As the threads begin to deteriorate, the results of the procedure will begin to gradually fade. If the patient wants to maintain the results of the previous procedure, the doctor will reinsert new threads to take the place of the ones that are slowly disappearing. The speed with which the body degrades the sutures will depend on the patient's overall health and their body's ability to protect itself.
