Ultherapy® uses ultrasound waves to rejuvenate and tone the underlying tissues of the face.
What is Ultherapy®?
Ultherapy® uses ultrasound waves to rejuvenate and tone the underlying tissues of the face. Ultrasound waves that are sent through the skin and into the tissues help to stimulate the body's own regenerative responses causing collagen and elastin to be produced. The procedure is non-invasive and produces very few side effects. The ultrasound waves are extremely effective at reducing the effects of aging on the skin and can reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and mild creases that can eventually develop on the forehead and at the corners of the eyes, nose, and mouth.
How Long Does This Type of Therapy Last?
The Ultherapy® procedure will cause different results in different people. How fast a person's skin ages will be unique to their circumstances and environment. In most cases, the visual appearance may begin within a few weeks of the procedure. The full effect of the procedure on the skin will be apparent in approximately two to three months. Because the procedure stimulates collagen and elastin production, the results will be gradual and not immediately noticeable. As with any type of rejuvenation procedure, the results will depend on the person's unique physical makeup. Some treatments will last several months, while others may last up to a year.
Does Ultherapy® Cause any Side Effects?
Ultrasound has been used for decades in terms of pregnancies and determining the status of an unborn child. The side effects associated with ultrasounds are minimal. In the past, patients have reported mild flushing of the skin, numbness and tingling near the site of the procedure, slight discoloration or bruising and tenderness in the treatment area. These side effects are short-lived and do not cause prolonged discomfort. The procedure is non-invasive so there is minimal to no risk of infection or scarring. The doctor will review any potential side effects that may occur with the procedure prior to starting.
